This last Saturday, Stilwell School of the Arts  competed in Georgia High School Association’s AA State One Act Play Competition. Each AA school that won their Region competed at the state level, totaling 8 schools. I am pleased to announce that our show, Amadeus, placed as the runner up. In addition, Ketsia Alberto won the title of Best Actress. Marsalis Causey and Nubia Causey were also awarded the All Star cast members judge’s awards.

2019 State One Act Play Competition


Our superintendent, Dr. Beasley attended our One Act Play "Amadeus" October 18, 2019.  He was ecstatic about the show and tweeted a few photos including the two posted below. 
 
On Saturday, 10/26, we took Amadeus to compete in Georgia High School Association’s One Act Competition. I am proud to announce that we placed first and will be advancing to the State level. We will go against other AA schools who won in their region. Not only did we win, but 7 out of 11 of the cast took home individual awards.

August Wilson Competition


2019 August Wilson Competition

Congratulations to Sydney Williams for her 3rd place win in the 2019 August Wilson Monologue Competition.  The National August Wilson Monologue Competition was founded in 2007 by Kenny Leon and Todd Kreidler at Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company in Atlanta. The national program is produced in collaboration between Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company and Jujamcyn Theaters.




The Georgia Thescon Conference 2019

The Georgia Thespian Conference, which was held February 7 through the 9th features numerous productions presented by high schools from throughout the state. We were able to engage in a variety of workshops led by theater professionals from around the country, perform and view individual performances and tech events, audition for scholarships, talk to college representatives from around the country. For the first time our One Act show, The Colored Museum was adjudicated and selected as a participant in the Conference Shows. Thescon 2019 


One Act Play Competition

Stilwell School of the Arts Theatre Department wins first place in Region and fifth place in State for their production of the Colored Museum.  Top row features cast members Ketsia Alberto (Regions Best Supporting , State All Star Cast) Brendan White (Regional Best Actor, State All Star Cast), and Winter Jones ( Regions Best Actress).  Middle row features cast members Xavier Foster, Marcus Johnson, and Kailyn Gainer. Front row  features stage manager Katie Johnson and Theatre  Instructor/Director Johnathan Bottisti.
